Stronger solar performance from Vacon

Solar energy orders are on the rise at AC drives manufacturer, Vacon. The company has received contracts for installations totalling over 100 megawatts from the Czech Republic alone this year. It has also continued to move ahead in Italy and signed its first contracts in the field in Belgium.

Following the acquisition of a small Spanish specialist in the design of solar energy inverters earlier this year, Vacon recently launched the Vacon 8000 Solar, its new flagship product for solar energy applications rated from as little as 10 kilowatts to 1 megawatt.

Solar inverters, such as the Vacon 8000 Solar, are a vital link between solar panels and the grid, converting photovoltaic power into AC and feeding it on to users. Easy to install, use, and maintain, the modular Vacon 8000 Solar system is ideal for commercial and utility use. Image courtesy of Vacon.

Vacon has also expanded its product portfolio in the wind energy sector with the introduction of the Vacon 8000 Wind. Initially available at ratings up to 2 MW, higher capacity options are on the drawing board for the future. The fact that Vacon technology can be used in both full-power converter solutions and double-fed induction generator designs adds to its competitiveness.

Vacon has been a long-time pioneer of AC drives for controlling electric motors and renewable energy generation – and currently has R&D and production units in Finland, the US, China, and Italy, and sales offices in 27 countries worldwide.
