Jartek wins major sawmill contract in Russia
Jartek has won a major contract for a complete package of sorting, packaging, and drying equipment from Kraslesinvest for a new sawmill to be built near Boguchany, 500 kilometres northeast of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia. Deliveries will commence this summer and commissioning will take place in spring 2012.
Initial annual production at the mill will total approx. 400,000 m3 of finished sawn timber. Kraslesinvest’s long-term plan is to develop a site capable of producing some 1 million t/a of pulp, approx. 800,000 m3 of sawn timber, and a range of processed products for the construction industry.
The order is the latest in a long line to customers in Siberia and the Russian Far East over the last decade. The plant will be one of the most technically advanced anywhere and feature Jartek’s industry-leading expertise in areas such as sorting and drying.
The plant will incorporate two identical green sorting lines with automatic grading and cross-cutting and 12 drying lines, with eight channel dryers and four drive-through chambers. Depending on the dimensions to be treated, the dry timber sorting plant will be capable of achieving sorting speeds of over 160 items a minute.
